Polarized
For daytime driving a polarized lens is essential. The polarizing filter in the lens cuts out glare from the road, windshield, and dashboard making your view clear as well as preventing eye strain.
Transitions Drivewear Polarized
Transitions Drivewear is the most versatile sunglass lens for variable condition daytime driving. They range from a 40% light blockage greenish yellow tint up to an 85% light blockage reddish brown depending on the conditions. Drivewear lenses are fully polarized for maximum glare reduction and clarity in all conditions. Drivewear lenses are the only photochromic lenses designed specifically for use inside the car. Other photochromic lenses either don’t work at all or don’t work very well inside a car due to windshields blocking most of the UV rays that trigger darkening of the lens. Drivewear lenses are the only photochromic lenses that darken fully inside the car in bright conditions.
Above is the Drivewear at its lightest state before darkening on a partly-cloudy day.
Below is after a minute of exposure in the same conditions.
And next at maximum darkness in sunny conditions.
While the Drivewear lenses are great for morning, midday, and early evening driving, we do not recommend them for night driving. Their clearest state still blocks 40% of the light and does not provide enough visibility for safe night driving. For night driving we recommend these lenses.
Solid Polarized
We also offer solid tinted polarized sunglass lenses. Polarized gray lenses will be your best bet if you are particularly light sensitive as it is the darkest. We also offer brown, gray-green, and rose-copper lens colors which are slightly lighter than the gray and offer better contrast for perceiving details, particularly on an overcast day when the lighting is flat. Lens color is largely a mater of personal preference.

Polarized Progressives
For those who need progressive (no-line bifocal) lenses we recommend ZEISS DriveSafe polarized sunglass lenses. Standard progressive lenses have a section of the lens for mid distance, but it is usually very small and not easy to use to see your car dashboard or mirrors clearly without precise and deliberate positioning of your head. DriveSafe lenses have a unique progressive design that have larger field of view for the mid distance vision to focus on the car dashboard, map displays, and mirrors and also a larger field of view for far distance vision to see the road and what lies ahead. The larger area on the lens for mid and far distance allows you to easily switch focus back and forth from road and dashboard so you can concentrate more on driving and less on your glasses.
