Bret

Bret is the owner and founder of Sports Optical and its division specializing in driving glasses. He invented the technology to put high curvature prescription lenses directly into wrapped sports frames without the use of prescription inserts back in the mid 90’s before Oakley or other optical industry heavy hitters saw it as a viable option. Bret also loves cars and enjoys racing rally, rally cross, circle track, and practicing drifting. Follow his racing adventures on instagram: crxbret Bret is always pushing lens technology to the limit and has developed an extensive knowledge of what works the best in practice, regardless of whatever the latest optical industry fad happens to be. For driving in the day Bret uses Transitions Drivewear polarized sunglass lenses. For at night he wears yellow lenses with anti-reflective coat.

Ian

Ian is Bret’s son and has become our expert on modern programmable lens edging technology. Before Ian started working for Sports Optical, our highly custom lenses were all hand edged by Bret! That took serious skill, focus, and patience. With his extensive experience with video games and can do attitude Ian quickly picked up how to program and operate one of the most advanced lens edging machines available. Thanks to Ian we have a reliable and efficient way to produce our custom lenses, though he is not afraid to get his hands dirty with old school hand edging if required to make the perfect lens. Ian is no stranger to driving and has raced his dad’s rally cross car on many occasions. Ian also likes to craft glass art in his spare time.

Davis

Davis wears a lot of hats from sales to making lenses in the lab to quality control and final preparations for glasses before they are sent to the customer. Every pair of our glasses are finished and cleaned by hand. If there is a scratch or blemish on the lenses at the final stage when finishing the glasses, Davis will catch it and the lenses will get started over again. In his free time Davis likes to play bass guitar in his metal band and is an avid gamer as well.

Emily

Emily loves glasses fashion and has 15 pairs of glasses. She provides friendly customer service, specializes in custom lens tints such as our yellow tint for night driving, and helps with lens finishing and inspection.

Andrew

Andrew made the website. He likes to wear polarized rose-copper sunglasses while ricing around his K20 swapped 93 Civic hatchback.
